Assistant Headteacher

My name is Kathryn Smith, and I am proud to be the Assistant Headteacher, SENCO, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Data Protection Lead (DPL), and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children at Penny Field School. Having completed two of my university placements at the school, I have been part of the Penny Field family since graduating, dedicated to supporting our pupils, families, and school community ever since.

In my role, I lead the Communication and Interaction strand of our curriculum, with a strong passion for empowering students through Intensive Interaction, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Attention Time. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and given a voice to thrive and achieve their full potential.
