Yellow Sunshine Class

Yellow Sunshine is made up of four pupils. We have two pupils from Purple Lightning as well as two new pupils to Penny Field School. Our pupils have a range of complex medical medical needs including Hemiplegia, Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy. Most pupils have a physiotherapy program which is completed daily.

Our pupils are Key Stage 3 that access the Working/ Towards Independence pathway. This is a semi-formal curriculum that focuses on all core subjects including Maths, English and Science. They also access sensory lessons such as Art, Music, Yoga and Cooking. Communication is so important in Yellow Sunshine as we have pupils that use English as an addition language and some pupils require AAC devices to aid communication. We also use Makaton and symbols.

‘Preparation for Adulthood’ is our main focus, we encourage our pupils to develop self care and life skills in order to enable them to be as independent as possible ready for when they leave Penny Field.
