September 2025
- Monday 15th September – World Afro Day.
We are excited to share that our school will be celebrating World Afro Day on Monday 15th September. This special day is an opportunity for our entire school community to celebrate and embrace our unique identities, focusing on the beauty and diversity of Afro hair.
Throughout the day, students will participate in several engaging and meaningful activities:
-
Storytelling and Sharing: We’ll be sharing stories that promote self-love and self-acceptance, with a focus on celebrating our hair and ourselves. This is a chance for students to see themselves represented and to appreciate the unique stories of others.
-
Hair Modeling Show: We invite students to take part in a voluntary hair modeling show. This will be a fun and positive way to showcase the different textures, styles, and lengths of not just Afro hair but all hair types within our school. Please feel free to send your child into school either celebrating their natural afro or uplifting hair-do! It’s a chance for everyone to feel proud and confident.
-
Special Assembly: We’ll conclude our week with a school-wide assembly centered on the theme, “We are all different, we are all special.” This assembly will celebrate the diversity of our school community, reminding everyone that our differences are what make us special and strong.
We believe that celebrating World Afro Day is an important way to build a culture of inclusivity, respect, and self-love at our school. We look forward to a day filled with learning, celebration, and joy.
